FORMAT:

All players will participate in an 18-hole stroke play qualifying round.  Qualifiers will advance to 12th SCGA Match Play Championship at Omni La Costa Resort in Carlsbad, CA on August 6 – 8, 2019.  The final number of qualifying spots will be available from the Committee on the day of play. 

 

REGISTRATION:

There will be no formal registration at this event. Players must check in with the starter’s window if they wish to rent a golf cart. 

 

STARTING TIMES AND PAIRINGS: 

Starting times and pairings will be e-mailed to players and posted online at scga.org one week in advance of the tournament. Starting times will range from 7:00 a.m. to approximately 9:00 a.m.

 

Players are encouraged to arrive at their assigned tee well in advance of their starting time, as the SCGA starter will have information to discuss and distribute to each player in the group. Furthermore, players arriving late will be penalized under Rule 5.3a of the Rules of Golf. For example, the 9:00 a.m. starting time is defined as 9:00:00, and players arriving after that time are considered late. Lead groups should plan to be at their assigned tee 10 minutes in advance of their starting time. Subsequent groups are encouraged to arrive in time to watch the group in front of them tee off.

   

PRACTICE ROUNDS:

Players may arrange a practice round at their own expense.  Please contact the golf shop at (626) 585-3598 or go to brookside.americangolf.com to schedule a practice round.  Standard rates apply to all participants.

 

TEES AND YARDAGES:   

Play will be from the BLUE yardage and tee markers (Gold yardages will be used on 1, 2, 6, 8, 10, 14 & 15). 

Hole by hole yardages are available on the Yardages tab within the event portal.

Course Rating: 73.3 / Slope: 131 / approximately 6,886 yards. 

 

DRIVING RANGE:

The Driving Range will be open by 6:00 a.m. on the day of the qualifier.  Range balls will be provided on the driving range compliments of the SCGA and Brookside GC.   

 

FOOD SERVICE AND PURCHASES:

The restaurant will be open from 6:00 a.m. until the conclusion of play. Cash and major credit cards will be accepted for all purchases.

 

RULES OF PLAY:

  • The Rules of Golf as approved by the USGA and the R&A govern play;

AUTOMOTIVE TRANSPORTATION / PULL CARTS & PUSH CARTS:

Carts are optional at the player’s expense ($15 per player). There will be a maximum of two carts per group and two bags per cart. Drivers must be at least 16 years of age (or older if club policy dictates). Each player is entitled to one seat in a cart. If a player brings a caddie, the caddie may ride provided there is a vacant seat in one of the carts. Otherwise, either the player or the caddie must walk. Pull carts and push carts are allowed.

 

CADDIES & SPECTATORS:

Players may provide their own caddie (See section on Automotive Transportation). Caddies must adhere to the dress code listed in section below. Spectators are permitted but are not allowed in carts. Spectators must adhere to all policies set forth by the club.

 

DRESS CODE:

Players and caddies must be properly attired in golf shirts, slacks, Bermuda-length dress or golf shorts and soft spike shoes. Jeans (any color or any kind), T-shirts and tank tops will not be permitted. Shirts must be tucked in and hats are to be worn forward at all times. 

 

CANCELLATIONS:

To withdraw for any reason prior to the start of for any California Amateur Championships-administered competition a player must notify the SCGA Rules and Competitions Department at (818) 980-3630, or by clicking here. If a player needs to withdraw on the morning of the event, notify the SCGA staff person through the golf shop staff at the host venue. Failure to notify the SCGA will subject the player to suspension from future SCGA competitions. Requests for refunds prior to the entry closing date will be honored less a $10 administrative fee. Requests received after the entry closing date and 48 hours prior to the event will be honored less 50% of the entry fee. No refunds will be honored within 48 hours of the event.
